After all the heavy rain recently in the UK it was nice to plan a trip out with two fellow photographers Ian White and Richard Johnson, and the area of choice was to be Rhayader in mid Wales, we visit this area normally around May when the migrant Redstart and Pied Flycatcher arrive, but today we set our sight`s on the Siskin a small and beautifully marked bird and we hoped to be able to capture images of both the male and female of the species, the weather forecast was for plenty of sunshine and a slight breeze which proved to be the case, the Countryside around mid Wales is definitely an area of outstanding natural beauty and an absolute joy to visit,we had arrived around 08:30am and after a quick Coffee set up our gear for the day and after what can only be described as a very enjoyable day we had all managed to capture images that we were pleased with and we are already looking forward to our next field trip back to mid Wales around May,images below and a link to the main Siskin gallery.
