I decided to head over to Portishead seafront this morning in time for the high tide to photograph the Purple Sandpiper and on arrival i counted eight birds in total which were showing quite well and they do seem reasonably tolerant as long as you do not invade there space too much, initially all eight birds were in the shaded side of the rocky coastline but two birds did eventually fly around to the point and into the warm morning sunlight where i was able to capture my first images of this lovely little wader.
